Dan Perera is a seasoned executive in the convenience store and fuel distribution industries, bringing nearly three decades of experience in operations, acquisitions, wholesale fuel supply, and business development. Throughout his career, he has successfully built, acquired, operated, and scaled businesses across multiple sectors of the downstream petroleum and convenience retail industries.


Dan began his career in 1995 while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at Wichita State University. He entered the convenience store industry with Coastal Mart, Inc., then one of the nation’s largest convenience store operators with more than 1,000 locations. During his tenure, he advanced through multiple leadership positions, gaining expertise in store operations, financial management, inventory control, compliance, and internal auditing.


In 2002, Dan became CEO, CFO, and Partner of a multi-state convenience store portfolio, where he led the acquisition, operation, and growth of 39 retail locations. Over the following decade, he consistently improved profitability, optimized operations, and increased enterprise value through disciplined financial management and strategic expansion initiatives.


Recognizing emerging opportunities within the fuel supply sector, Dan transitioned into wholesale fuel distribution and logistics. Since then, he has focused on fuel supply, branded and unbranded fuel marketing, transportation strategy, acquisitions, and distributor development. He has played a key role in launching and growing multiple fuel distributorships while building strong relationships with major oil companies, marketers, retailers, and transportation partners throughout the industry.


Today, Dan’s expertise encompasses convenience retail operations, wholesale fuel supply, mergers and acquisitions, portfolio optimization, contract negotiations, pricing strategy, logistics management, franchise food programs, merchandising, human resources, and financial analysis. His unique combination of hands-on operational experience and executive leadership allows him to identify opportunities, streamline operations, and create sustainable growth strategies for businesses of all sizes.


Known for his ability to acquire underperforming assets and transform them into profitable enterprises, Dan has built a reputation as a results-driven leader with a proven track record of creating value for investors, partners, and stakeholders. His comprehensive understanding of both retail and wholesale markets makes him a trusted advisor and respected leader throughout the convenience store and fuel distribution industries.

He was honored with the GO Getter Recognition Award at the 2026 Phillips 66 Marketing Conference for his long-standing dedication, consistency, and resilience in serving his customers and communities.
